Last Saturday, HCC hosted The Conscious Collective, an art exhibition created by AmeriCorps member, Mawhyah Milton. For the past 13 weeks, Mawhyah facilitated an art workshop attended by other AmeriCorps and staff members. The workshop was focused on using art to spark conversation around Advocacy and Social Justice and to express One’s own story or feelings about the current zeitgeist. On Saturday the participant’s final art pieces were showcased at the exhibition where community, friends, donors and volunteers gathered in support. There was food, music, and an experience that was very memorable for all who attended.
Thank you to the committed participants for taking time to learn and grow their understanding of the importance of art. Also thank you to the guests who came to view and support the artists.
